D.E.A.R. Scholarship Application



Continuing Education Scholarship Program 2013

3. Refer to application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed (i.e., reference forms, evidence of GPA, etc.)  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

NOTE:  Scholarship funds will be awarded to the student upon evidence of registration in an accredited post-secondary institution.
 

 

Purpose:  To Provide scholarships to four (4) deserving professional dancers interested in or intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.

Award Components:  Four (4) $2500 scholarships and individual certificates awarded to four (4) students selected by the Dancers Emergency Assistance Relief Scholarship Committee.
 

Criteria: 

1. Applicant must be a Professional Dancer with a minimum of forty hours of work experience.

2. Applicant must have a high school diploma

3. Applicant must have a passing SAT score

4. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 prior to applying (high school or college)

5. Applicant must demonstrate positive-impact involvement – in the complete sense – consistent with capacity and circumstances and/or significant improvement/success in scholarship and community involvement, determined through letters of recommendation.

 

Application Process: 

Applicant must submit the following items:
1. Completed application form (if handwritten, please print legibly)

2. Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee.  The letter should contain a brief explanation of career goals and biographical (background) information.

3. Three (3) letters of recommendations from choice of teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.

4. An official and recent high school or college transcript with cumulative grade point average and a class standing/rank.

5. Personal Essay.  In your essay, please answer the question on the enclosed essay form.

   How will returning to school make a positive difference in your life?

 

Deadline for the application is Thursday, October 29, 2012.  Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.











Emergency Assistance Application



“Helping Hand” Program 2013

1. There are no DEADLINE for applications for assistance, however there are eligibility requirements.

NOTE:  Assistance will be awarded upon completion of verification.



Purpose: Through our influence, resources and presence in the world of dance, DEAR will advocate for and provide resources to support every professional dancer in creating personal and professional sustainability.

Award Components:  Monetary support awarded to professional dancers are selected by the Dancers Emergency Assistance Relief Board Members.
 

Criteria: 
1. Applicant must be a Professional Dancer with a minimum of forty hours of work experience.

2. Applicant must have an unforeseen circumstance affecting their career or livelihood.


Application Process: 
Applicant must submit the following items:
1. Completed application form (if handwritten, please print legibly)

2. Letter of application addressed to the Board of Directors.  The letter should contain a detail explanation   of their circumstance. (Letter can be written by a family member if dancer is unable to write)

3. Three (3) letters of references from choice of agents, choreographers, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and involvement.

4. Personal Essay.  In your essay, please answer the question on the enclosed essay form.
